Our inclusive academy gets the top mark
Star Academy, Sandyford is celebrating after not only being awarded the ‘Inclusive Quality Mark’ award but also being put forward to become a national Centre for Excellence.
Principal, Nicky Broomhall and her team were awarded the mark after a rigorous application process and full day’s assessment. The assessor conducted a walk around the academy and interviewed a selection of pupils, staff, parents and Governors. During the day, she commented that the academy really was a “magical place to be”.
The Inclusion Quality Mark rates schools on a range of values and practices including social cohesion, the attitude of the learners and quality of the learning environment.
Nicky Broomhall said: “We are delighted to be awarded the quality mark and to have been chosen as a possible national Centre of Excellence. It is such fantastic news and really shows the hard work that goes into ensuring that every child is truly allowed to shine.”
