The Star Academy Curriculum is designed alongside pupils and parents so that it reflects the needs of our community.
The Curriculum is carefully planned to ensure that the needs of all children are met and that they are enthused, motivated and challenged in their thinking and learning. Staff plan against the New National Curriculum objectives that came into effect in September 2014.
Close attention is paid to the development of key skills so that all of our children gain a firm foundation for the future.Published schemes that are used throughout the Academy to support areas of the curriculum are:-
Maths – Abacus
Reading – Dandelion Readers in our Early Years Department and for children on lower phonic stages higher up in the academy, Big Cat by Collins throughout the whole Academy.
Phonics – we follow the Letters and Sounds teaching programme in Early Years and Key stage 1

Our Academy is proud of it’s British heritage and life for our children and families in today’s modern society.
Here at STAR we value the diversity of living in both our local community and our country as a whole. Pupils will learn about our rich and vibrant land.
Educational visits and visitors help to extend opportunities and widen the pupils’ understanding of the world.
